Players Champion Credits InsideOut Founder with Key Role in Breakthrough Victory.

Alan Fine developed and refined the highly practical Decision Velocity© approach to optimal performance for individuals and organizations in a variety of settings.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (April 4, 2006) - InsideOut Development, a worldwide leader in workplace coaching, today announced that Canadian golfer Stephen Ames has credited InsideOut founder Alan Fine with helping Ames win the 2006 Players Championship.

Ames, who is preparing this week to compete in The Masters, acknowledged that the InsideOut approach developed and refined by Fine was key to his breakout victory. "Alan helped me to quiet my mind, effectively visualize and be present on every golf shot, and not to get in my own way on the course," said Ames. As Ames prepares for the upcoming Masters, he said, "I look forward to see—with my new frame of mind—what kind of performance I can put on."

InsideOut Development takes a unique, practical approach to unblocking—and thus unlocking—individual native talent, regardless of level or function, with truly remarkable results. "All of my research and experience points to the fundamental truth that, assuming the requisite knowledge and experience, performance improvements are primarily driven by removing interference," said Fine. "This runs contrary to many traditional coaching measures—pep talks, endless instruction and so-called ’constructive criticism’—that we have found actually don’t help, and frequently get in the way of optimal performance."

Equipped with this InsideOut approach, Ames won the Players Championship by six strokes against a field that included 48 of the world’s 50 top-ranked golfers. He led the field in fairways (42 of 56) and greens (52 of 72) hit on his way to $1.44 million in winnings.

Central to the InsideOut success is the concept of Decision Velocity©. Just as golf club velocity—speed and direction (or accuracy)—determines the outcome of each shot, the speed and accuracy of business decisions determines the level of an employee’s, and ultimately, a company’s performance.

In order to increase Decision Velocity, Fine developed the widely popular G.R.O.W. Model. G.R.O.W. is an acronym for four inter-related processes for removing performance-blocking interference: Goals; Realities; Options; and Way Forward. G.R.O.W. is a powerful, practical means of increasing Decision Velocity and thereby unlocking high performance at any level—from world-class athlete or executive to entry-level accountant.

Since founding InsideOut Development in 1990, Fine and his associates have remained on the forefront of individual and organizational performance enhancement. "Our approach is equally applicable in closing a major sale or executing on strategic business goals as it is to effective driving and putting," said Kim Capps, CEO of InsideOut Development. "Managers within our Fortune 100 clients consistently tout its power and simplicity in effecting positive results in their companies."

InsideOut has developed solutions for a host of world-class athletes, performers and organizations. The company has worked with numerous championship-level athletes in addition to Ames, including PGA golfers Colin Montgomerie, Philip Price and David Feherty, leading tennis professionals and world-class musicians.

In the organizational realm, InsideOut Development has achieved consistent, proven results with such marquee market leaders as Alcon Labs, BellSouth, BP, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Campbell’s Soup, Citigroup DHL, Ford, Four Seasons, Gap, Genentech, IBM, Merrill Lynch, NASA, PacifiCorp, Procter & Gamble, Questar, Sun Microsystems, Texas Instruments, NASA, and the U.S. Navy. InsideOut’s GROW process helps its clients develop effective solutions for corporate change initiatives; performance appraisals; project team development; training and follow-up programs; and other organizational programs and initiatives.
